This page provides brief tips to help you use Pike's telephones and voice mail.
Using Your Voice Mailbox
- To set up your voice mailbox for the first time:
press 5 5 5
enter your password
press #
and then follow the prompts.
- To access your own voice mail after you've set up your mailbox:
- From your telephone at Pike:
either press the Msg button or press 5 5 5
when you hear the greeting,
enter your password
press #
- From a telephone other than your own:
press 5 5 5
when you hear the greeting, press # *
enter your extension and your password
press #
- From home:
call the main Pike phone number (978-475-1197)
when you hear the school greeting, press *
enter your extension and your password
press #
- To change your security code from within voicemail:
Dial 555
Enter your security code, then press #
Press 3 to manage your mailbox
Press 2 to change your user options
Press 3 to change your security code
- To change your name (use in the "system greeeting")
Dial 555
Enter your security code, then press #
Press 3 to manage your mailbox
Press 2 to change your user options
Press 6 to record your name
- To change your personalized greeting
Dial 555

- To record a busy greeting

- To choose the system greeting (your name will be said by the system rather than a personalized greeting)

- To choose a personalized greeting

Press 1-7 to select your greeting
From within voice mail...
- To listen to a message, press 1.
- To move forward quickly through a message while you are listening, press #.
- To
replay part of the message you are listening to, press *.
- To replay the message from the beginning, press * 1.
- To delete the message you are listening to (or have just finished), press 3.
- You may create up to 7 outgoing greetings. For example, you may create a standard outgoing greeting ("You've reached the voice mailbox of Jane Smith...") and an alternative vacation greeting ("School is on vacation, so I'll call you when I return"). To change your greetings:
from within your voice mailbox, press 3 to select mailbox management
press 1 to manage greetings
type the number of the greeting to change (1...7)
press 2 to record a new greeting
record the new greeting and press #
press 9 to save (or press 4 to cancel the greeting)
press 9 to return to the previous menu
type the number of the greeting that you want to play when people leave voicemail for you (1...7), or press * to hear the current greeting.
- To forward a voicemail message to someone else, press 4 while listening to the message (or just afterwards).
Telephone Buttons, Telephone Lines, and Other Information
- To indicate an emergency (fire, intruder, ...), press 1 1 1 1 to reach the receptionist on a special line.
- To access an outside line from any telephone or fax, press 8.
- To transfer the person you're speaking with to another phone at Pike, press the Cnf/Trn button, enter the extension to transfer to, and then hang up.
- To reach the receptionist from a faculty phone, press 0.
- To bypass someone's greeting when you are leaving a message in a Pike voice mailbox, press # #.
- To turn "Do Not Disturb" on with the flex button
Press the speaker button - you will hear the dial tone
Press the Flex button
Press the speaker button - this will turn the phone off
Do the same thing to turn "Do Not Disturb" off
- To put calls on hold
While talking on the phone, press the hold button
To take calls off hold, press the call pickup button (green light) on the phone
- To program the speed dial button
Do not pick up the handset
Press #66, dial 3 digit code (100 - 129), dial 8 + phone number, press #, then SPKR
- To use speed dial
Pres SPD DIAL button
then dial 3 digit code (100 - 129)
- To stop message light from blinking
press #409
