Using Mobile Laptop Carts

Middle School
Upper School

Middle School

The Middle School has 2 mobile laptop carts: Gold Cart and Blue Cart. Each cart has 22 laptops. The carts are stored in the utility closet outside Room 27. The utility closet is locked each night after school and opened again at 8 am by the Middle School division head or a member of the Technology Department.

Each cart has two logbooks.

Please make sure that all students (yours and other teachers') sign out laptops for individual use. Periodically laptops go missing, and then both teachers and the Tech Department spend unnecessary time searching the classrooms.

If a laptop is misbehaving, please note its inventory tag number and the symptom in the Trouble Log (kept in the inside front pocket of the reservation logbook). The Technology Department reviews these logs early each morning and will fix the problems. (It's important to report problems, even though it takes a few minutes. We cannot fix what we don't know is wrong!)

The teacher using the cart is responsible for making sure that all laptops are returned to the cart.

No cart can be used for more than 2 class periods in a row. After that, the batteries must recharge for at least 1 class period before the laptops can be used again. Make sure that your reservations respect this rule.

Please be flexible about your cart reservations. If a colleague needs the cart, try negotiating a mutually-agreeable solution.

Upper School

The Upper School has 2 mobile laptop carts: the Green cart (generally kept overnight in Room 185) and the Silver cart (Room 276). In addition, the Science classrooms each have a separate cache of laptops.

The Green and Silver carts each have a logbook. Teachers can use the log book to reserve the cart for their classes. Students can use the logbook to sign out individual laptops during study hall by indicating their names and the laptop inventory tag numbers. When students return the laptops at the end of study hall, they must also sign the laptop back in. Please note! Sixth grade students are not allowed to sign out individual laptops during study hall unless they have permission from a teacher for a specific assignment.
